I'd Like To Know

Cancers appear to go away or into remission…spinal cords appear to recover, wounds appear to heal quickly, a bad cold or flu goes away, yet, in all the history of recorded miracles, none have included the restoration of a missing limb. Why is this? And why isn’t the obvious answer that all these other so-called miracles are simply things that can be claimed so easily…with no real evidence? The logical solution should be that there are no miracles,  which should appear obvious since there is no way to claim that a limb has been restored unless it really has, thus, none have been claimed to have grown back. How gullable are we?

When you forgive somebody, is it alright to forgive them simply because you fear how God will treat you if you don’t forgive them? The answer seems obvious, but if you really don’t feel like forgiving, but know it is required of you because scripture makes it clear that you are obligated to forgive, what other motivation is there to extend forgiveness other than to fear what may happen to you otherwise?

If God really exists and is a loving and compassionate god, why doesn’t He do something about all the suffering and evil in the world? If He is loving and merciful why does He allow such horrible events as hurricanes, earthquakes, and famine? Why does God permit suffering and evil to exist? If god genuinely loves us, why does he allow disaster? Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? Why does God let catastrophes take place in the world?

In the Old Testament, God is this super angry, genocidal maniac. In the New Testament, according to Jesus, God is this cuddly teddy bear that loves everyone… until you get to the Book of Revelations where he whigs out again. Why does God’s behavior vary so much? Is God a schizophrenic? Should he be in counseling?

In your article about Being Willing you mentioned or rather suggested that one learn how to be willing. “Learn to Be willing and you’ll truly see what God Can Do.”

My question is how does one learn how to be willing? For example, if one were trying to prove the existence of God but wouldn’t or couln’t accept the myriad proofs because of unwillingness, prejudice or bias, how does one turn that unwillingness to willingness?

You mention that the story of Noah never happened and that God would never kill all those innocent people. The story of Noah is mentioned throughout the New Testament as well. Matthew 24:38 for example.

You give examples from Matthew that we should accept but we are supposed to just disregard others as made up? Are we to just read the bible and disregard any mention of God or God’s acts that are not loving?
