Thanks for writing…and you are correct in determining that hell is a man-made idea. We fear what we do not understand and we gave these fears greater meaning by establishing guidelines of punishment or reward, depending upon what our specific needs were. Religion then embraced these fears and concepts of punishment to provide its followers with motivation to serve its needs.
Only one thing exists that we ever need to focus on, and that it the love of God. Anything we do to distance ourselves from this love, creates a condition that can seem like hell, but it’s not a punishment, and is only a result of attempting to be separate from God. Because we are a part of God, we can never truly separate ourselves and therefore we can never truly be lost forever. There is not a single person who exists or who ever existed that God is not working with to help restore their peace and help open their hearts to dropping the fears that are distancing us from him.
God is eternal and he created us eternal, so no matter what any belief may teach, time has no power over you and there is no specific thing you must believe to be ’saved’ before you pass on. I cannot say what happens when we leave here…is their reincarnation? Are there other forms of living?..There can be only speculation…and it really doesn’t matter and is not worth any argument, but whatever does happens, we never cease to exist and we continue on so that we are always provided with opportunities to shed our fears and eventually embrace our Fathers love once again.
